Places of Significance Date Night Idea for Married Couples

A few years ago, a friend of mine told me about a date she’d been on with her husband that sounded like a lot of fun! She said that for their anniversary, she and her husband had visited a variety of places that had significance in their relationship. This would make a great anniversary celebration, but I also think that it could be a fun idea to do for one of your regular, weekly date nights every once in a while.

Free Drive In Movie Date At Home

One of my favorite summer traditions is going to the drive-in or checking out the local movies in the park series. Our current stage of life comes with few obstacles that keep us from enjoying those activities for date night as often as we'd like. So we've found fun ways to switch up our movie dates with this fun at home alternative. You don't have to have a projector or a fancy setup to enjoy this date. But if you choose to "go big or go home", that's ok too!

At Home Date Night Idea - Indoor Campout

If your stage of life is similar to ours, if you're not an outdoorsy couple, if the woods are too far away from you or if it's the middle of winter and you're missing the summer weekends when you would escape to somewhere without cell phone service, this date night might be for you. In the summer, you could do this in your backyard, but you'll want to make sure you have long lasting batteries in your baby monitors or an extension cord that reaches out to your tent so you can keep an eye on the kids.

"Do You Want to Have a Cleaning Party for Date Night?!"

Date night doesn't always have to be exciting and adventurous. There was nothing glamorous about our date this past weekend, but we accomplished something together, ended the night with some quality time together and we won't have to spend as much time cleaning every night each week to catch up, so we'll be able to spend more time together after the kids go to bed in future weeks.

Date Night Ideas from the NICU

With a preemie in the hospital and a toddler at home, we have every reason not to go on dates right now, but because our marriage is a priority and we want to make sure we are spending time with each other, we have been determined to make date night happen. Date night is difficult when you're spending all of your time together at the hospital or at home after your toddler is in bed. I knew that because of how crazy life was and how limited our time together was, we needed to set aside time to date each other during our stay in the NICU. Spending a few hours together, uninterrupted and away from both of our kids was just what we needed to reconnect at the end of our long and exhausting weeks.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game - Date Night Bucket List

Because we already had a few babysitter dates lined up for the month, we decided to take Bensen with us. He loves being outside and around a lot of people so I figured he would have a lot of fun! We didn't get to stay for much of the game or stick around for fireworks, because when you have a tired, teething toddler, you get him home to bed before the meltdowns start, but we still had a lot of fun!

Bucket List Date Night - Hike and a Picnic

At the beginning of this summer, I was really excited for this date night activity but as this pregnancy started to take more of a toll on my body, I was afraid that we weren't going to be able to complete it this year. I knew that hiking in the mountains was not going to be at all enjoyable for me, so I started researching easy, flat terrain hikes in my area. There are plenty of trails and paths to walk on, including a nature path near our home, but I was looking for something that felt like we were hiking in the mountains without being quite so strenuous on my pregnant self.

Paddle Boats are More Fun When You're Younger... and not pregnant...

I will say that this activity was a lot more fun when I was younger and probably would have been more enjoyable without my baby bump as well. Pedaling is great exercise and you can go as fast or as slow as you want (as long as both of you can agree on a speed), but it is a little more difficult when you're pregnant. Add to that the heat and you have not as romantic of a date activity as I'd thought, but it was still fun.

Four Secrets to More Memorable Date Nights

I've always had a passion for date night, but for a couple of years, we were taking date night for granted. Now more than ever, with our busy schedules and our roles as parents, being intentional with date night is important to us. I don't expect every week's activity to be one that I remember in detail for year's to come, but I want to be intentional with each one and not take any of them for granted. By remembering the things that have made other dates memorable, I hope to add more memories to our story, make our marriage greater and make date night a ritual that we look forward to anxiously each week.

Bucket List Date Night: Midway Ice Castles

After a snowstorm rolled in Friday night and continued into Saturday morning, I was a little worried that this date wasn't going to happen. We kept a close watch on road and weather conditions and decided that we would be safe making the drive up through the canyon. The falling snow added to the ambiance and I truly felt like we stepped into a winter wonderland! A family day date to the Ice Castles in Midway two weekends ago was the perfect way to kick off completing dates on our 2016 date night bucket list!

How to Enjoy Your First Weekend Away From Your New Baby

We got home yesterday from an amazing weekend up in Midway, where we stayed at Zermatt Resort. It was the perfect setting and location for a relaxing weekend that allowed us to spend good, quality time together and reconnect as a couple. We missed our baby a lot while we were gone, but knew that he was in good hands at grandma's house. To be honest, we felt worse about leaving our puppy behind to hang out at home by himself. We were excited to get home to both of our boys today, but I'm glad that we took the time to get away together for a couple of nights!

Our Lucky 13 Date Night

One of the dates on our Date Night Bucket List for the year was to have dinner at Lucky 13 Bar & Grill and go to a Bees Baseball Game. After having Bensen, I decided that we were going split that date into two because Bensen loves being outside and a baseball game is the perfect date night activity to involve a baby in, but Lucky 13 is a bar and although I don't frequent them often, I'm pretty sure babies are not allowed in bars. Unfortunately, we didn't make it on our baseball date this year, so it will go back on our list for next year, but we did make it to Lucky 13 and it didn't disappoint!

5 Tips for a Successful Drive In Movie Date with a Baby

One of the dates on our Date Night Bucket List this year was to go to a drive-in movie. Neither of us have ever been before, but I'd heard that they're a lot of fun and I really wanted to go. After this weekend's date, I decided that it definitely would have been more fun in my teenage years or earlier in our marriage, before the baby came, when we didn't mind losing a little bit of sleep but we still had a really good time. We saw a couple of cute movies and experienced something new together! I would love to do this again in the future, but maybe only see the first show so that we aren't out so late. I should mention that we weren't alone at the drive in, we had Bensen with us and I thought it would be a good idea to share my tips for a successful date night at the drive-in movies when you have a young baby with you!

Date Night - The Food Truck League

The worst part of our date night was deciding which food cart to try. We weren't hungry or ambitious enough to try three or four different things and share them this time around, so we both ended up at Rolling Mountain Bistro for some delicious pulled pork. I got a simple pulled pork sandwich with added deep fried onions and Joe got the Mountain Mac and Cheese. Mac and cheese, pulled pork, bacon, deep fried onions and I think a few other things make the most intense bowl of mac and cheese I've ever seen. Our food was so delicious and we enjoyed every bite!
