Cold Weather Date Night Idea - Hot Chocolate Tasting

Drinking hot chocolate together has been one of mine and Joe's favorite things to do since early on in our relationship. It can be a quick way to get some quality time in together at the end of a long day, when you have an afternoon off work together or after the kids have gone to bed. Whether you're stuck at home, have a couple of hours to spare or are looking for something fun to fill an entire afternoon, a hot chocolate tasting would make a really fun date night!

How to Decide What Date Ideas to Include on Your Bucket List

For the last few years, we've put together a bucket list at the beginning of every year. This bucket list is different than what you'd normally picture when you think of a bucket list. Our bucket list is filled with things that we want to do for date night in the coming year. Obviously, there are a lot of things that a couple can do together on date night, so how do you determine which activities to include on your bucket list?

Take Me Out to the Ball Game - Date Night Bucket List

Because we already had a few babysitter dates lined up for the month, we decided to take Bensen with us. He loves being outside and around a lot of people so I figured he would have a lot of fun! We didn't get to stay for much of the game or stick around for fireworks, because when you have a tired, teething toddler, you get him home to bed before the meltdowns start, but we still had a lot of fun!

Bucket List Date Night - Hike and a Picnic

At the beginning of this summer, I was really excited for this date night activity but as this pregnancy started to take more of a toll on my body, I was afraid that we weren't going to be able to complete it this year. I knew that hiking in the mountains was not going to be at all enjoyable for me, so I started researching easy, flat terrain hikes in my area. There are plenty of trails and paths to walk on, including a nature path near our home, but I was looking for something that felt like we were hiking in the mountains without being quite so strenuous on my pregnant self.

Paddle Boats are More Fun When You're Younger... and not pregnant...

I will say that this activity was a lot more fun when I was younger and probably would have been more enjoyable without my baby bump as well. Pedaling is great exercise and you can go as fast or as slow as you want (as long as both of you can agree on a speed), but it is a little more difficult when you're pregnant. Add to that the heat and you have not as romantic of a date activity as I'd thought, but it was still fun.

Bucket List Date Night: Midway Ice Castles

After a snowstorm rolled in Friday night and continued into Saturday morning, I was a little worried that this date wasn't going to happen. We kept a close watch on road and weather conditions and decided that we would be safe making the drive up through the canyon. The falling snow added to the ambiance and I truly felt like we stepped into a winter wonderland! A family day date to the Ice Castles in Midway two weekends ago was the perfect way to kick off completing dates on our 2016 date night bucket list!

How to Create Your Own Date Night Bucket List

Last year, to help me achieve my goal of being more intentional with our date nights, I created a Date Night Bucket List. Having a list of dates that we want to go on made coming up with what we're going to do each week a little bit easier. I loved it so much that I've decided to make it an annual tradition in our marriage! Do you have date night activities that you always talk about doing but never seem to follow through on? You should create a date night bucket list of your own this year and start to enjoy some of the things that you've always wanted to do together.

Our Lucky 13 Date Night

One of the dates on our Date Night Bucket List for the year was to have dinner at Lucky 13 Bar & Grill and go to a Bees Baseball Game. After having Bensen, I decided that we were going split that date into two because Bensen loves being outside and a baseball game is the perfect date night activity to involve a baby in, but Lucky 13 is a bar and although I don't frequent them often, I'm pretty sure babies are not allowed in bars. Unfortunately, we didn't make it on our baseball date this year, so it will go back on our list for next year, but we did make it to Lucky 13 and it didn't disappoint!

5 Tips for a Successful Drive In Movie Date with a Baby

One of the dates on our Date Night Bucket List this year was to go to a drive-in movie. Neither of us have ever been before, but I'd heard that they're a lot of fun and I really wanted to go. After this weekend's date, I decided that it definitely would have been more fun in my teenage years or earlier in our marriage, before the baby came, when we didn't mind losing a little bit of sleep but we still had a really good time. We saw a couple of cute movies and experienced something new together! I would love to do this again in the future, but maybe only see the first show so that we aren't out so late. I should mention that we weren't alone at the drive in, we had Bensen with us and I thought it would be a good idea to share my tips for a successful date night at the drive-in movies when you have a young baby with you!

Date Night - The Food Truck League

The worst part of our date night was deciding which food cart to try. We weren't hungry or ambitious enough to try three or four different things and share them this time around, so we both ended up at Rolling Mountain Bistro for some delicious pulled pork. I got a simple pulled pork sandwich with added deep fried onions and Joe got the Mountain Mac and Cheese. Mac and cheese, pulled pork, bacon, deep fried onions and I think a few other things make the most intense bowl of mac and cheese I've ever seen. Our food was so delicious and we enjoyed every bite!

The Shooting Range - First Bucket List Date, Done

Remember the Date Night Bucket List that we created for 2015 and still haven't started on? Well, good news, after this weekend, we can officially say we accomplished our first date!! It only took us six months to get started, but I'm hoping that this summer we can cross off quite a few more. To be honest, I'd planned on crossing at least three dates off our bucket list this weekend, but we ran out of time and were too exhausted with everything else that was going on in preparation for a big family event.

Our 2015 Date Night Bucket List

Some of the most popular posts on the blog are the Date Night Bucket List posts. I've loved creating them over the last year and a half, but our busy and unpredictable schedules made it next to impossible to complete very many of the activities that I came up with. This year, instead of creating a new list every season, I decided to write down a few of the date ideas that we've had over the last four years but haven't done yet. As we cross each date off the list over the next twelve months, I will write a post about it! I'm excited to make date night a priority this year, especially because I know it will be more of a struggle after the baby comes in May!
