We finally got to have a date night with my bestest pal Heidi and her husband Micah this weekend! I haven't seen them for months and I don't think we've been on a date together since last year when we spent New Years together. Heidi and I wanted to keep it simple, but fun and at Heidi's suggestion, we used this date from the Dating Divas website. (It's a great one, if you've never looked at it!!) I usually tweak their dates a bit to fit what I want, have time for, or can do, but this one was pretty simple and low key so we planned follow it exactly!
My very best friend and her husband, my "twin", came over to our place and we got the date rolling! Since the date was centered on the movie The Italian Job, everything we did had an Italian feel to it. First we made our own calzones with pizza dough and random toppings that Heidi and I had decided most of us would eat. I remember doing this sort of thing for a dance in high school, we all made individual pizzas with topping and Rhodes rolls and let them bake while we played games and it was really fun. This was just as fun!!
While dinner was baking, we needed to use our artistic talents so I pulled out the Playdoh! Hooray for Playdoh!! We all had to make little sculptures, this was right up mine and Heidi's alley. What good husbands we have for pretending to be children with us!
Joe made lots of things. First a pizza crust that nobody would give him toppings for. Look at that sad face.
Now it's a taco
Now it's a burrito
Then he got serious...
...and made Stonehedge
My "twin" had to get a knife for his sculpture.
Can you see the spires?
It's the Rome temple, with Angel Moroni laying by it. There were some struggles with trying to attach him.
My LLL was so excited to play with her playdoh!!
She got really creative!
Fishy w/ bubbles, seaweed and a starfish.
I just had fun molding my little bowl, and Joe gave me a lemon head to put in my candy dish.
I like to play with playdoh, but I don't necessarily make great creations, I just like to smooth it all out.
Dinner was delicious! The calzones always end up being huge and cheesy and delicious! We were going to use water colors and watch The Italian Job after dinner but by the time dinner was over, it was close to ten so we thought maybe we'd just eat our gelato and chat for a bit. I guess we really could have watched our movie because we ended up watching AFV and then some Psych and then we all chatted until about 1:30 in the morning. It was kind of nice to just sit and chat though, so I didn't mind changing the plans up a bit!
I loved our double date with these two!'m sad that they will one day be living in Texas, far away from me, but we'll probably go visit and one day, and my LLL and I are still determined to live next door to each other one day in the future so that our children can be friends and grow up together with both of us as crazy examples to them!
