A couple of weeks ago, Joe and I went to see 'Fiddler on the Roof' at our local community theater, you know, the one where we have the season tickets that I love so much?! Through the whole show, I just kept thinking of The Gilmore Girls, Season 5, "Jews and Chinese Food" and Kirk on stage performing with the elementary school children. I tried to find him singing 'Tradition', but failed. Honestly though, this song is better, and it's the one that kept running through my mind and making me giggle.
Oh poor Luke and Lorelai, their fights are always so dramatic and heartbreaking and full of awkward moments.
Anyway, the whole point of me mentioning 'Fiddler on the Roof' was because I really love tradition, maybe not in the way that Tevye loves tradition, but I think it's important! Tradition brings families together and gives everyone something to look forward. Some of my favorite traditions?
- Christmas baking and decorating the tree
- Date night
- Thanksgiving dinner
- New Year's kisses
- End of semester celebration dinners
- Summer BBQ's
- Birthday celebrations
- 4th of July celebrations and fireworks
Yep, I'm a little late, but I'm blogging about our 4th of July celebrating! :) I love this holiday! Centerville takes on a small town feel with all of their shindigs! My favorite is the concert and fireworks on the 3rd. Everyone hangs out at the park next to city hall, you can't turn around without seeing someone you know, there are bounce houses, booths with yummy food, a magician (seriously, every year without fail), a free concert (This year it was a Beatles tribute band) and a great firework show so close above you that burnt pieces of firework fall on everyone in the crowd!
This year we took some of our good friends from the ward with us, enjoyed signature sandwiches and delicious custard from Galaxy Custard and had a great time!
Hanging out at the park, waiting for the show to start!
This girl is such a dear friend!
Our men are such weirdos, but we love them!
My husband glowed in the dark, literally. We left to buy cotton candy, and found our way back by
looking for him and his bright green shirt!
No 4th of July is complete without a little fluffy, sugary goodness!
We finished our 4th off with a barbecue at my parent's house. The pup enjoyed hours of endless play time in a fenced yard, he ran up and down the rows of corn and beans in the garden, played with his cat cousin and dug lots of holes in the flower beds filled with bark. Yummy food and lots of fun with family!
Our pup, the soccer player! That ball is not normal soccer ball size by the way...
These two animals get along surprisingly well, and they love to wrestle with each other!
My mom and I matched, I thought it was cute.
What's a party without a little red solo cup...filled with water of course!
What are your favorite family or holiday traditions?
