Joe and I have the same day off work every week, in case you haven't already caught onto that fact, and we love it, even though it's not a Saturday like everyone else's! This past week, we had some wedding stuff to attend on Thursday, so we switched our day off for the week and had some fun together and with family! Our day included three, well four, but four doesn't start with a 'T', so it didn't work with my clever title, so three (+ one) 'T' activities made our day off together so awesome! Temple, Trader Joe's, Tucahno's, (and tank cleaning...yep...).
First, the TEMPLE! Joe's cousin was sealed to the love of his life for time and all eternity and we were lucky enough to be privileged to be there for that special event. It was a great way to spend our morning, we learned a lot, and they are a beautiful couple!
The weather was a lot nicer on Thursday than it was later on in the week when it dumped snow, but it was still really cold. Thankfully, their talented photographer got pictures out of the way quickly so that we could all get out of the cold, and away from the random ice chunks that kept falling on us from the top of the temple.
I convinced Joe to take a couple of pictures, and he made sure to tell people that I always have to take pictures everywhere we go so that I can use them for future blog posts. Which is true, but I'm also trying to be better about taking pictures and documenting memories in our life.
It was cold!
Joe says, "Blog pictures..."
We had two hours of time to fill in between the temple and the luncheon, so we drove around for a bit trying to figure out where to go. I think we were on our way to Hires Big H for some hot chocolate when Joe's grandma noticed Trader Joe's as we drove past and suggested that we stop there instead. I've heard A LOT about Trader Joe's, and seen everyone's pictures of the fun things that they get there, but still hadn't gotten around to going, so I was all for it!
Husband Joe at Trader Joe's
I didn't know what to expect from Trader Joe's, I think that I was picturing it as a novelty candy and food type store for some reason, so I was surprised to walk in and see that it was kind of like a little grocery store but with the Trader Joe name brand on everything. We explored every aisle and loaded our arms with a lot of yummy things to try. It was a fun little adventure!
After that, we made our way to The Gateway Mall for some amazing delicious wedding luncheon food at Tucanos!
Joe and I both agreed that this was a genius, amazing location to hold a wedding luncheon. Unlimited salad bar, meats, grilled pineapple, fried bananas (I had 10, they are my favorite!), etc. They had a party room for us to use, we had our own little team of servers, the family put on a great program, it was awesome!
Fried Bananas, Round Two
After we laid around for three hours, letting our food digest, attended the reception, and gone grocery shopping, we attacked the fish tank. Yeah, that fish tank that we've only had for a week and a half now, it was nasty! So, we spent two hours cleaning it, it was so much fun, I'm really sad that we don't get to do it every week (dripping with sarcasm here). BUT, the tank looks really clean now, we added a few fun plants and a bubbling volcano, and my fishies have a lot of clean water to swim and grow! They are already growing so much already, I am excited to see how quickly they reach their full size!
Everything we got from Trader Joe's.
Cookie Butter: I still haven't tried this. I've heard great things about it though, and I'm excited to see what it is like! Have any of you had it before? What is your favorite thing to use it on?
Peach Salsa: We haven't tried this yet either. All of our tortilla chips went toward our yummy Seven Layer Dip this week, so it'll have to wait until I go grocery shopping.
Kiwi Strawberry Juice: Yummy!!! I loved reading the ingredients and seeing that there are no weird chemicals or ingredients with names that I can't even read, let alone pronounce.
Joe-Joe's Cookies: I love the filling in these cookies, but the cookie part of Oreos are a lot more flavorful than these cookies.
Cinnamon Raisin Bread: I am a sucker for this bread, it is so good toasted!
Lingonberry Scones: We haven't tried these yet either. I think I'm scared. I don't know what to expect, they just sounded great to me, and like something that you'd serve at an English tea or something. Maybe I'll try some later today.
Freeze Dried Bananas: FAVORITE!!!! I could eat these for hours, I want to go get more.
Freeze Dried Blueberries: I'm not sure if these are my favorite, I thought I would try out some of the really good fruits, and maybe they will grow on me, but I'd prefer my bananas!
