When I asked Joe what the perks of being married to a student were, he told me that there are none because I'm always on my computer doing homework and it costs a lot of money. I was a little disappointed that he couldn't think of a single perk, but then I started thinking about it myself and realized that there weren't any perks that I could think of for being married to a current student. I reworded my question and asked him what perks my being a student he could see for our future and this is what I got.
The Potential for More Money
Joe's world revolves around money (not in a bad way), and it's a well know fact that someone with four years of college under their belt will make more than someone without. When we talk to people about my schooling, Joe always jokes, "One of us needs a degree" and that one of us is me, because like I shared last week, you'll never find Joe in college.
The Benefit of an Education
This goes hand in hand with what I said above. You should never stop learning and you can never have too much education, whether formal or informal. Finding something that you love makes learning so much more enjoyable and my classes are fun, I even find myself looking forward to my homework sometimes.
The Knowledge I'll Have
My education will benefit not only my future career, but my future family. I am a Family Studies major so every class I take has something to do with family relationships. Our families are the most important thing that we have and I can't see a downside to having the knowledge to make mine the best that it can be. The degree I'm pursuing will hopefully make me a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, student, teacher, and employee.
What do you think is the benefit of having your spouse go to school?
