Back in October, I got my first smartphone. I was super excited because it was going to make my life so much easier! I'm constantly on the go and having my e-mails, social media, web browser, salon apps, etc. all with me when I need them was REALLY appealing. Joe however, wasn't so thrilled. He always told me, "I'm never getting you a smartphone because you would never take your eyes off of it." I always laughed at him and told him that he had no faith in me, but this past month I've noticed that there are a lot of times he has to tell me that I should put down my phone for a few minutes and pay attention to what's going on around me. Checking Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on a regular basis has become a bad habit of mine. I'm not proud of it, and I want to do something to change it.

My goal this month is to become less dependent and attached to my phone before it becomes a huge problem. I check my phone a lot just because it's there and I can, and it's something that really bugs my husband! If the phone is across the room in my purse, I don't pay attention to it until it rings, or until I'm getting ready to leave for somewhere. Yes, I have a few e-mails waiting, maybe a few Facebook and Instagram notifications and every so often, I've neglected a text or two, but it's not the end of the world and people can wait, right!?
My goal for this week is to try and only check my phone once an hour unless I have a legitimate reason to, like if I'm texting someone, or need to search for something, etc. I won't pick up my phone just to look at my social media for the millionth time that day. I think I will get a lot more accomplished each day and my husband will be happier with me!
Are you attached to your phone too much?
