Here's a little back story on this whole fluffernutter situation that we had at our apartment this weekend! The Monday after we got married, we went to do our grocery shopping and stock up on everything we needed. We literally went up and down every aisle because I didn't even want to try and make a list of everything we should get to begin with. While we were in the baking aisle, Joe spotted some marshmallow creme and told me that we HAD to get it so that we could make fluffernutter sandwiches. I had never had one and he was really apalled and insisted even more that we get the creme to make them. So we bought it...and it sat in our cupboard for months...we talked about making sandwiches with it any time we noticed it, but it just never happened.
I finally used it to make some brownies one day and Joe was sad that we didn't have anything to make fluffernutter sandwiches with. So last weekend when I was grocery shopping, I picked up a can of marshmallow creme and when we wanted a snack, I pulled out the bread and peanut butter and showed Joe. He was SOOO excited! As we were preparing our sandwiches he said to me, "I hope these are good because I haven't had them since elementary school and I know that back then they were really fantastic!" Hmmm...great, I didn't know what to think of that. I'll just say that they were ok, they weren't anything that I think I'd be dying to make again but they weren't too gross either. Joe did suggest that we try them with Nutella sometime so maybe that will be another weekend's snack!
Have you tried something lately that was fantastic when you were a child and isn't as thrilling now?
