A Peek Inside my Purse on Date Night

We try to go on at least one baby free date night a month. Sometimes we're lucky enough to get two or three, but we always get that one. Because we have made weekly date night a priority in our marriage this year, Bensen tags along with us quite often. Sometimes we have date night at home, but a lot of the time, we go out for all or part of the evening. We've taken him to dinner with us, on picnics, to the drive-in movies and more!

The first few times we took Bensen with us on date night, I used to take my purse and his diaper bag every where with us, but it's not very convenient to carry both and they take up a lot of space in restaurants and elsewhere. I've slowly learned to simplify and only take the essentials so that I'm able to feel stylish with my purse but still take care of everything Bensen might need.

Date Night Essentials for the Baby

I put everything for Bensen in a cute little pouch so it's all handy and easy to find. If we're going to be out for a while, I'll put the entire diaper bag in my turnk so that I can restock as needed.

Diapers and Wipes - Possibly the most essential essential for a successful night out with the baby. I keep a couple of diapers handy and a travel pack of wipes.

Binky - Bensen prefers to chew on his binky lately, since he's teething, but every once in a while, we use it to soothe and comfort him.

Water/Bottle/Formula - I bring along his sippy cup filled with water for him to drink, but it doubles as water that I can mix with formula when he gets hungry.

Toy - Bensen loves to observe people and interact with us for the most part, but I like to bring one of his favorite toys along just in case.

Date Night Essentials for Us

I'm pretty sure the only things Joe ever needs to bring with him are his phone, his wallet and his keys. However, he's always asking me if I have one thing or another in my purse, so I've learned that I need to be carrying it all.

Wallet - Sometimes I pay for our date, most of the time Joe does, but I still always carry my wallet with me because I have all of the loyalty/reward cards that get us free or discounted things at all of our favorite date night locations.

Chapstick/Lipgloss/Lipstick - I always want to look my best for date night and hydrated lips are essential for that date night kiss. Chapstick Total Hydration is 100% natural, age defying and instantly smoothes and moisturizes. Its advanced nourishing formula with argan oil and avocado butter and rosehip oils with omega 6 & 9 visibly renews lips.

Mints - Because I like garlic and onions and those don't usually make for date night ready breath.

Advil Tablet Vial - Nothing ruins a date night faster than a headache, and with as many tension headaches/migraines that I get, this is an essential for my purse always. Advil Tablet Vial is the perfect size for my purse. They are the original round tablets providing safe, effective pain relief for over 25 years.

Nexium 24HR - The #1 prescribed acid blocker brand (Based on IMS health data: total Nexium® prescriptions 2006-2014). May take 1 to 4 days for full effect. Use as directed.

Hair Ties - I go through more of these than anything else, I have never figured out where they all disappear to. Because of my goal to dress up for date night, my hair is usually down. If I get too hot, or we're doing an activity that requires my hair to be out of my face, I'm glad to have these around.

I found all of my date night essentials at Walmart, in the pharmacy section.

I love being able to feel classy on date night without carrying a lot of bulk around. We always have a lot of fun when we take Bensen with us, and I can't wait for the fun family date nights that we'll enjoy as he gets older. Some of our date night essentials might change or become obsolete as our family's stage of life changes, but there are a few things that I know will always remain in my purse and will be essentials on date night and other outings for years to come.

What do you carry in your purse for date night or when you go out with the baby? Do you take your purse or do you take the diaper bag?
