I really love the 4th of July, especially with all of the celebrating that my hometown does! I think I like that it's a holiday, you do family things, and you get time off work, but it's not so crowded with festivities and parties (like Christmas time) that you don't get to enjoy your time off work!
Friday night Centerville had a concert and fireworks in the park. They always have fun food booths set up around the park and everyone camps out in chairs and on blankets to hang out and enjoy the music. We usually play games during the concert, but we forgot them this year. We met up with a bunch of our friends, hung out in our little area and roamed the park. Most of Joe's family was there, so we went to visit them for a little bit as well. Joe and I took advantage of the booths and had hamburgers and chips for dinner and then Joe needed a second meal, as usual and went to get a Philly cheese-steak sandwich and I had a frozen banana for dessert, yummy!!!
The fireworks at Founders Park are always fantastic! Our niece and nephew came to sit by us during the fireworks so we got to enjoy their during the show and that made it even better! I love fireworks!
Saturday morning we were up bright and early to get our Bountiful Basket! Joe was not excited that I made him go stand in a line (they were running late) for fruits and vegetables that he wouldn't eat normally anyway. We got a lot of good stuff though, and I've used it all week for meals and snacks, so I was happy with it!
The parade was great. We ended up sitting next to my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and our nieces and nephew so that Joe could sit in a chair. It's fun watching kids get candy and be excited during the parade, even if they get bored quickly. I always love the coupons they bring around, I'm all about free stuff!
Monday night we went to a firework show that Joe's neighbor puts on every year. It's so fun that the big fireworks aren't illegal anymore, there were a lot of firework shows that we could see going on at the same time as ours, and driving home there were a lot on the hills that we would watch! Like I said, I LOVE fireworks!
